about

Recording a ballad album with his JVD4 quartet has been a great wish for many years, according to trumpet player/composer Jan van Duikeren. Apart from his own work, Jan is most known for his leading role in the Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw (JOC) and as a prominent sidemen in Candy Dulfer’s Funky Stuff.
On his new release Short Stories, Jan van Duikeren shows himself as a storyteller, with a velvet sound. The groove is gently laid by drummer icon John Engels (a former band member of Chet Baker, and 86 years young today) and embedded in the warm blanket of the string section of the multiple Grammy Award winning Metropole Orkest.
